Study on the Social Protection System in the 13 Applicant Countries

It was an EU project, jointly financed by the association of German social security (GVG). The research, carried out since January 2002, compared the social security systems in several countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltic countries, Malta, Cyprus and Turkey.

The work of the Polish experts Katarzyna Pietka, Christoph Sowada and Maciej Żukowski was co-coordinated by Stanislawa Golinowska. In December 2002, at a conference in Brussels, the reports were presented which described the institutions of basic social security in individual countries. A preliminary synthesis report, prepared on the basis of the above, was also discussed by the European Commission and experts from GVG.
