Experts’ Workshop: Mapping National Innovation Ecosystems

On May 26 2011, CASE successfully organized an experts’ workshop at CASE in Warsaw. The workshop was part of work package 2 of the three and a half years research project PICK-ME (Policy Incentives for the Creation of Knowledge: Methods and Evidence), funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Programme.

Itzhak Goldberg, CASE Fellow, is the project scientific leader and was the moderator of the workshop. The workshop was presented by CASE expert Krzysztof Szczygielski, and was attended by innovators and entrepreneurs representing international financial institutions, academia and business start-ups.

The workshop was used to assess the innovation ecosystem of Poland by identifying specific strengths and recent developments and by ranking them according to their impact.

The aim of PICK-ME is to advance the understanding of the mechanism through which demand-based innovation policies may stimulate knowledge creation. The project consists of nine work packages and will be completed in June 2014.
