Call for a Visiting Fellow

As the premier research institution in Central and Eastern Europe, the Center for Social and Economic Research (CASE) is interested in bringing on a Visiting Fellow, starting in January 2017 (or by mutual agreement) to contribute to the intellectual life of the center.

CASE hosts Visiting Fellows from around the world to work at our headquarters in Warsaw. We generally host one fellow a term (autumn or spring), with full access to CASE’s facilities and with assistance in arranging meetings, travelling in the region, and obtaining information or data. Fellows stay with CASE from six weeks to three months, with the exact term agreed to in advance.

Our Visiting Fellows have substantial autonomy to pursue their own research interests, and all CASE asks in return is for one internal or external seminar on their research and a short piece suitable for publication.

Previous Fellows have explored topics such as Ukrainian migration to Poland and the transition away from and back to capitalism during the 20th century. We expect Fellows to hold a PhD and have a full-time position in their home country. Excellent written and spoken English is also required.

The Visiting Fellow position is unpaid; in the past, our Fellows have had funding via grants or their home institutions to cover their stay here.

If interested, please contact Agata Kwiek, communications manager, at agata.kwiek@case-research.eu by December 9, 2016. We also may consider applications for later in 2017, again by mutual arrangement.
