Olga Popova is a Senior Researcher in the Economics Department at the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS Regensburg), Regensburg, Germany, and a Research Fellow of the Institute for Labor Economics (IZA) and the Global Labor Organization (GLO). She is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Population Economics, Comparative Southeast European Studies, and the Journal of Happiness Studies. She has also served as a consultant for the World Bank. Olga Popova holds a PhD in Economics from the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education–Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) and Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic (2012). Her research focuses on the role of the environment and institutional legacies in economic development, with particular attention to emerging and transition economies, and has been published in the Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Population Economics, Small Business Economics, Ecological Economics, Energy Policy, and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, among others.
