The publication analyzes the cost of a sample Easter shopping basket in 2025 based on CASE Online CPI data. It shows that in the week before Easter 2025, the basket was about 7% more expensive than a year earlier. Compared with the previous four years, consumers are paying the highest prices this year.

The basket includes basic Easter food items such as eggs, bread, cold cuts, white sausage, butter, chocolate, horseradish, mayonnaise, yogurt, and salt. The analysis points out that in 2021–2023 prices were highly volatile due to cost pressures linked to climate factors, the war in Ukraine, and broader geopolitical uncertainty, as well as government interventions such as temporary tax changes. In 2024 price volatility decreased, but the overall upward trend remained.

At the start of 2025 prices fell until the end of February, then began to rise in March due to increased pre-holiday demand. The basket reached around 66 PLN, though late promotions lowered the price slightly to 64.75 PLN just before Easter. The largest year-on-year increases were seen in chocolate, salt, butter, and some cold cuts, while wheat bread and Krakowska sausage became cheaper. The publication also includes additional charts showing average prices of selected products in 2021–2025.
