At its annual meeting held in November 2022, the Conference of Regional and Local Authorities for the Eastern Partnership (CORLEAP) decided to adopt a more hands-on approach to support initiatives and focus on support projects of a genuinely practical nature. Consequently, there arose a need for an updated CORLEAP report that would facilitate the implementation of this approach.
The currently realized study commissioned to CASE by the Committee of the Regions and entitled “New avenues for functional cooperation at local and regional level in EaP countries” is meant to provide a preliminary basis for discussion and analysis in the course of the creation of the above mentioned CORLEAP report.
The study will provide a review of:
- existing support initiatives provided by international and national (from EU Member States) organisations and institutions,
- local capacities (legal and financial possibilities to engage in cross-border cooperation) while highlighting the diversity of needs among countries,
- potential of engaging competences and capacities that can be found locally in the EaP countries with offered support,
- potential future support opportunities together with a mapping of actors who could receive the support.
