The research project led by Dr Jan Bazyli Klakla, Director for Migration, Social Policy and Development Cooperation at CASE, has been awarded funding under the SONATA 21 call of the National Science Centre, Poland.
The project, entitled “From Footnotes to Frontlines: How Experts Shape (and Are Shaped by) Integration Policy Creation in Poland”, focuses on the role of experts in shaping integration policy in Poland between 2022 and 2026 – a period marked by the unprecedented inflow of refugees from Ukraine and the development of new national migration and integration strategies. The study will examine how expert knowledge enters decision-making processes, who is recognised as an expert, and what role experts play in public administration, civil society organisations, academia, and public debate.
The project aims to provide a clearer picture of how knowledge and power intersect in a key area of public policy in Poland. Its findings may be useful for policymakers, expert communities, and civil society organisations committed to more transparent, fair, and trustworthy policymaking in the field of migration and integration.
