Jan Hagemejer, President of CASE Management Board, was interviewed by TVP World on the prospects for the upcoming India and the European Union comprehensive free trade agreement and the intensification of interactions between EU authorities with India and China

In a world where everyone is closing their borders, the EU has no other choice but to seek trading partners and also potentially geopolitical allies to bring as much free trade as possible. India is growing very fast; it has a huge population and is currently a low-income country. From an economic point of view its promising trading partner.

What could an EU-India trade agreement bring?

Key benefits:

Fast-growing market: India is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, with a young and expanding population.
Diversification of value chains: reducing over-reliance on a single partner and increasing supply-chain resilience.
Gains for industrial sectors: automotive, advanced manufacturing, electronics, pharmaceuticals and selected services.
Limited agricultural impact: agriculture is largely excluded from the scope of the agreement, reducing political and economic sensitivity.
Consumer benefits: lower prices for labour-intensive goods such as textiles and footwear.
