We cordially invite you to the seventh seminar in the CASE Studies series, which will take place on January 14, 2026, at noon, and will be devoted to the digital competencies of children and young people, in particular critical thinking and digital resilience in the face of the challenges of the modern Internet.
The starting point for the discussion will be a report on consultations with young people and adults, as well as a handbook with exercises for teachers and educators entitled “Fact or Fiction,” developed as part of an international project co-financed by the Erasmus+ program. These publications address the issue of young people’s functioning in the digital world, highlighting both the skills needed to recognize reliable content and the importance of responsibility, social relationships, and support networks. The report presents the results of research conducted with children and young people, as well as parents and teachers from Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia, on digital experiences, perceived risks, response strategies, critical thinking skills, and the needs of young people. It also addresses important methodological issues related to conducting research in a child-centered approach. The handbook offers a set of workshop scenarios and exercises to support the development of critical thinking, digital resilience, understanding of democratic values, human rights, and responsible participation in social life.
During the meeting, we will discuss, among other things:
- Digital competences among children and young people, including critical thinking and digital resilience in the face of the challenges of the modern Internet;
- The results of research conducted with children, parents, and teachers from Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia on digital experiences, assessment and strategies for digital risks, critical thinking skills, and support networks;
- The methodology of research conducted with children and young people;
- Recommendations for teachers, parents, platforms, and policy makers
- Forms and effectiveness of promoting educational materials for developing critical thinking and digital resilience.
The seminar will be attended by the authors of the report and handbook: Dr. Martyna Gliniecka and Zuzanna Stańska (CASE), as well as invited guests including Klaudia Bzducha (school counselor, who collaborated with us during the pilot workshops as part of the project), the moderator will be dr Jan Bazyli Klakla.
The seminar will be an opportunity to reflect on how the educational community and parents can respond to the challenges posed by the rapidly changing digital landscape and how to build more aware, resilient, and responsible communities of young Internet users.
The seminar will be recorded and the recording will be published on the CASE YouTube channel.
