We cordially invite you to another seminar in the CASE Studies series, devoted to the experiences of Ukrainian students studying in Poland during two overlapping crises – the COVID-19 pandemic and Russian aggression against Ukraine. The starting point for the discussion will be the book Studying in Times of Crisis by Dr. Jan Bazyle Klakla, based on research conducted among Ukrainian and Polish students and representatives of Krakow universities.
The publication highlights the complex processes of acculturation and adaptation in conditions of uncertainty and threat, as well as the role of higher education institutions in shaping a supportive environment for students with migration experience. The author, analyzing empirical material, presents an acculturation model describing students’ coping strategies in the face of crisis and points to good practices and recommendations formulated by the study participants.
During the meeting, we will discuss, among other things:
the impact of actions taken by universities and academic communities on student well-being,
the importance of social relationships and support networks in the adaptation process,
the role of universities as institutions responding to crisis situations,
ways to effectively support international students facing difficult life experiences.
The seminar will be attended by: Dr. Jan Bazyli Klakla, Director of Migration, Social Policy, and Development Cooperation, author of the book, and invited guests.
The seminar will be an opportunity to reflect on how the academic community can respond to the challenges posed by migration, war, and global crises, as well as how to build more inclusive and resilient university communities.
