The EUROFRAME group of research institutes (CASE, CPB, DIW Berlin, ESRI, ETLA, IfW Kiel, NIESR, OFCE, PROMETEIA, WIFO) is organizing the 21st annual conference on economic policy issues in Europe, to be held on 6 June 2025. This year’s theme – “The Future of Labour” – focuses on transformations in the labour market, challenges related to technology, demographic change, and social inequalities within the European context.
As the global economy evolves, the nature of work and employment is undergoing profound changes. This conference aims to explore the future landscape of labour markets, the impact of technological advancement and demographic shifts, and policy responses to these developments.
Programme and Themes
The conference features 8 parallel sessions across three thematic blocks, as well as a high-level expert roundtable. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research on topics such as:
- labour market reforms and skills mismatches,
- the role of minimum wages and active labour market policies,
- education, health, and skills development,
- the impact of remote work and work-life balance,
- productivity and public investment,
- the effects of robotisation and artificial intelligence on employment,
- migrant integration and qualification mismatches,
- links between the labour market and monetary policy.
The event will conclude with an expert panel discussion chaired by prof. Jan Hagemejer (CASE, University of Warsaw), featuring:
- Piotr Lewandowski (IBS),
- Stephen Millard (NIESR),
- Stefania Tomasini (Prometeia),
- Klaus-Jürgen Gern (IfW Kiel).
The panel will focus on the implications of artificial intelligence for employment structures across countries and the future of work in a globalized world.
