Assessment of the current situation in the banking sector, including the impact thereon of government support and stabilization packages

 

Description:

The objective of this assignment is to carry out the assessment of the current situation in the Russian banking sector, including the impact thereon of government support and stabilization packages, and to develop practical recommendations on priorities and directions for the government measures to support banking and financial sectors.

In achieving this objective the consortium takes upon itself a broad study, including an analysis of the current situation in the sector, its challenges, legislation, the macroeconomic conditions essential for its stabilisation and will elaborate on possible scenarios for its development.  In its part of the study, CASE is focusing on the integration of Russian banks in the international financial markets and will provide a comparative study of developments in banking sectors in a comparative international perspective.

The final report aims to provide the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation with an indepth analysis of the Russian banking sector and offer scenarios, strategies and instruments to deal with the current global financial crisis.
