Final conference in ANCIEN project

The long term research project ANCIEN comes to its end after almost 4 years of successful implementation. The final conference took place in Brussels on October 24. The aim of the conference, entitled “The future of Long Term Care in Europe: Challenges for LTC Systems in the Face of Ageing Populations”, was to summarize the scientific and policy findings of the project.
The ANCIEN project began in January 2009 and aimed to analyze the needs, use, quality assurance and system performance of long-term care in the future. The final conference gave a general overview of the project, provided an analysis of long-term care needs, use and supply and an evaluation of the system performance in Europe as well as discussed policy implications and recommendations. In addition to the project’s experts, speakers at the conference included representatives of DG Employment and OECD.
