Customs Union Troika: the goals and perspectives of the Eurasian economic integration

A presentation on economic integration and the development of the Eurasian Economic Union was delivered by the economist from CASE Ukraine, Alaksandar Papko, on 12th March 2014. During the talk given to a group of American students who are from the EESA-Eastern European Study Abroad, Papko discussed the history of the Eurasian Economic Union and how it formed, as well as the expectations of the member countries for the future. He looked at the different institutions of the Customs Union, including the Higher Eurasian Economic Council, the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Court of the Eurasian Economic Community. Papko also described the individual goals of the member countries: Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, comparing them and then looking at the different conditions in place for a potentially successful economic integration. Moreover, he gave his conclusions and recommendations about the potential of the EuAEU and how these countries will progress together economically. The meeting was organized by and held at CASE.
