Conference "WTO accession: Problems and prospects"

The seminar called "WTO accession: Problems and prospects", organized within the project “Belarus on the road to the WTO: Problems and Prospects”, took place in Minsk, Belarus, on October 30, 2013. Experts from CASE and IPM Research Center presented and discussed the papers prepared within the project, including: “WTO Accession and Economic Development: Experience of Newly Acceded Countries and Implications for Belarus” by Irina Kolesnikova, “Belarus’ WTO accession: Impact on Domestic Business” by Irina Tochitskaya and “Social impact of the Belarusian accession to WTO" by Gleb Shymanovich. Moreover, an expert from Russian Academy of Sciences delivered a presentation on the implications of Russia's WTO accession for its economy, and the participants of the conference were familiarized with Poland’s experience as a WTO member.

The seminar was one of nine activities undertaken within the project.
